The Indian Association Congress (IAC) has emerged as a key platform for fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strategic growth among India’s association community. Since its inception, the Congress has provided a space where thought leaders, policymakers, association office-bearers, and industry stakeholders converge to address challenges and explore trends. In this exclusive interview, we delve into the evolving role of associations with Prasant Saha, Convention IAC, exploring the critical importance of innovation and collaboration and the vision behind the upcoming edition of the IAC, taking place in Jaipur from August 29th to 30th, 2025.

What is the central theme and focus of the Indian Association Congress 2025, and why was Jaipur selected as the host city for this edition?

The theme of IAC 2025 is “Rooted in Purpose, Aiming for Impact.” It reflects the evolving mandate of associations today—to remain grounded in their mission while developing innovative, future-ready strategies that drive genuine transformation. We chose Jaipur not only for its rich cultural heritage but also because it offers world-class infrastructure through the Novotel Jaipur Convention Centre & Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre, providing an ideal setting for purposeful collaboration.

We’re really excited about the program for IAC 2025—it’s packed with timely, relevant, and thought-provoking sessions that speak directly to the challenges and opportunities facing associations today. We’ll kick off with a big-picture discussion on geopolitical shifts and economic resilience, looking at how India can strengthen its position on the global stage. Other key sessions will explore topics like what it takes to lead a global association, the impact of AI, and how to align India’s MICE industry with changing demand and supply.

What role does IAC play in strengthening the voice and impact of associations across sectors in India?

IAC has always served as a catalyst for collective progress. It brings associations from across sectors onto one unified platform—allowing them to not just learn from one another but to also present a more cohesive and compelling voice in national and global discussions. Our goal is to amplify the relevance and influence of associations in shaping policy, driving innovation, and building stronger communities.

How is the Congress adapting to current trends in the association and meetings industry, such as digital transformation, sustainability, and hybrid engagement?

We’re While IAC 2025 will be a fully in-person event, we’re embracing innovation to make the experience more meaningful, efficient, and sustainable. Alongside a strong, purpose-driven content program, we’re introducing new tools and practices that reflect the latest trends in the industry. Sustainability is a core focus. We’re committed to local sourcing and minimising waste and are partnering with a local NGO to create sustainable congress materials. From reducing our carbon footprint to supporting the community, we want IAC 2025 to walk the talk when it comes to responsible event practices.

Can you highlight any strategic partnerships or collaborations being showcased at IAC 2025?

We are proud to be partnering with national and international MICE bureaus and sectoral associations from semiconductors, blockchain, space, healthcare, urban mobility, environment, and industry enablers who are co-creating content and bringing in expertise. We are also showcasing successful case studies of association-government collaborations and exploring cross-border regional partnerships.

IAC 2025 offers a powerful mix of learning, networking, and visibility. Delegates can expect high-impact sessions, hands-on workshops, and curated networking opportunities with leaders from across sectors. It’s a chance to connect, exchange ideas, and spark new collaborations. One of the key highlights is the Association Excellence Awards, celebrating innovation and leadership within the association community. This year, we’re also introducing the Association Partner Awards—a new category that recognises outstanding partnerships between associations and their collaborators.

In what ways is the Indian Association Congress contributing to the growth of India’s MICE industry and positioning the country as a hub for association meetings?

IAC is the only platform in India dedicated to associations, and it plays a unique role in showcasing the country’s potential as a hub for purpose-led meetings. By bringing together global and national stakeholders, we’re helping shape the next wave of MICE strategy in India—one that is sustainable, inclusive, and aligned with long-term national growth. We also work closely with tourism boards, venues, and local partners to highlight India’s readiness to host high-value association events.

Looking ahead, how do you envision the future of IAC, and what legacy do you hope the 2025 edition will leave behind?

We envision IAC evolving into a regional force, connecting associations across Asia and beyond. The 2025 edition aims to leave a legacy of purpose-driven transformation, showing that associations, when united and equipped, can lead bold change across sectors. If we can empower even a handful of organisations to think bigger, collaborate deeper, and build with purpose—that’s the impact we’re aiming for!
