Sri Lanka to Host SL MICE Expo 2026 with 120+ International Buyers and Media

The Sri Lanka Convention Bureau (SLCB) has announced the sixth edition of SL MICE Expo 2026, scheduled to take place in Colombo from 5–9 October 2026. The flagship event will bring together more than 120 international hosted buyers and media representatives from 27 countries, reinforcing Sri Lanka’s growing engagement with the global MICE sector. Organised in line with the SLCB Marketing Plan 2026, the Expo builds on the momentum generated by previous editions. Since its inception in 2021, SL MICE Expo has evolved from a virtual initiative into an international platform connecting Sri Lanka’s MICE industry with buyers, media and industry stakeholders from across the world.

SL MICE Expo 2026 will provide Sri Lankan MICE partners with opportunities to develop business relationships, explore new markets and establish international partnerships. The programme will bring together hosted buyers, media representatives and local tourism and MICE stakeholders through business engagements designed to facilitate product discovery, knowledge exchange and collaboration. Sri Lanka’s compact geography remains a key advantage for MICE travellers, offering a diverse range of experiences within relatively short travelling distances.

The destination combines modern business infrastructure with beaches, ancient cities, wildlife sanctuaries and the scenic hill country’s tea plantations. These attractions can be incorporated into MICE programmes as well as pre- and post-event tours, enabling delegates and incentive groups to experience different facets of the island. The country’s rich cultural heritage and enduring traditions further enhance its appeal, offering international visitors opportunities to combine business with authentic cultural, leisure and incentive experiences.

(Prof.) Ruwan Ranasinghe, M.P., Deputy Minister of Tourism, said the Government recognises the MICE sector as an important driver of tourism growth and welcomed SL MICE Expo 2026 as a platform to showcase Sri Lanka’s capabilities to international buyers and media.

Dheera Hettiarachchi, Chairman, SLCB, highlighted the participation of more than 120 hosted buyers and media representatives from 27 countries, noting the opportunities this would create for Sri Lankan MICE industry partners to establish global business connections and partnerships.

Through SL MICE Expo 2026, SLCB aims to deepen relationships with key international markets while providing local suppliers with direct access to decision-makers and influential media. The event is also expected to support wider tourism activity by encouraging international conferences, business events and incentive travel, benefiting tourism enterprises and communities across Sri Lanka. The 2026 Expo marks another step in Sri Lanka’s efforts to position itself as a compelling MICE destination, combining connectivity, hospitality, value, professional capabilities and diverse experiences for the international business events community.
