The Residency Hotels Unveils The Residency Signature Madurai, Redefining Luxury Hospitality in Tamil Nadu

The Residency Hotels has unveiled The Residency Signature Madurai, a landmark luxury destination that blends the city’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary sophistication. Spread across seven acres and spanning nearly five lakh square feet, the property is among Tamil Nadu’s most ambitious hospitality developments, designed as a luxury retreat, premier convention venue, and culinary destination.

Designed by renowned Singapore-based architect Wong Chiu Man of Warner Wong Architects (WoW), the hotel draws inspiration from Madurai’s iconic temple architecture. Nearly 300 intricately crafted pillars echo the grandeur of the famed Thousand Pillar Mandapam, while vibrant bougainvillaea-lined façades create a striking visual identity. Guests are treated to panoramic views of all four gopurams of the Meenakshi Amman Temple and the scenic Thiruparankundram Hills.

The property comprises two distinct blocks—a luxury hotel and an expansive convention centre. It offers 186 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites, along with five exclusive rooms within the convention centre. Accommodation ranges from spacious premium rooms featuring smart automation and curated luxury amenities to lavish suites, including the 2,000 sq. ft. Presidential Suite with private butler access and spectacular city views.

The hotel introduces a vibrant culinary portfolio featuring Chithirai, an all-day dining restaurant; Eden, a premium bar inspired by a “Garden to Glass” philosophy; Chin Chin, the brand’s celebrated Oriental dining concept; and Krave, an artisanal pâtisserie. The upcoming Grand Trunk restaurant will showcase India’s diverse culinary heritage through a thoughtfully curated menu inspired by historic spice routes.

At the heart of the development is one of South India’s largest hospitality-led event destinations. With nearly 80,000 sq. ft. of banquet and event space, including a convention centre capable of hosting up to 5,000 guests, the property is poised to become a preferred venue for weddings, conferences, exhibitions, and large-scale celebrations.

Celebrating the Residency legacy, Ravi Appasamy, Chairman, The Residency Hotels, said, “With The Residency Signature Madurai, we are presenting more than a hotel; we are paying tribute to the cultural soul of this timeless city. Inspired by the architectural magnificence of the heritage structures in the city, the property reflects our deep respect for heritage, artistry and contemporary luxury. Bringing a destination of this scale and emotional significance to Madurai is a matter of immense pride for us. We hope it becomes an enduring landmark that celebrates the spirit of the cultural capital of the South.”

Marking this defining milestone, Rohit Ravi, Managing Director, The Residency Hotels, said, “With every new address, we aspire to redefine the luxury landscape and elevate the way discerning travellers experience hospitality. This landmark opening brings to the city a bold, future-forward destination unlike anything seen before.

B Gopinath – Chief Executive Officer, The Residency Hotels said, “Madurai has long deserved a luxury destination that reflects its timeless grandeur and with our expansive and versatile banquet spaces of nearly 80,000 sq. ft., every celebration finds its perfect setting. Designed for grand banquets, large conferences, seminars and intimate gatherings, product launches, MICE and beautiful weddings, the hotel is centred around The Ballroom and Mandap, complemented by several elegant venues of varying sizes for celebrations of every scale.
